Marabas Ltd. has launched a co-operation with doctoral candidate Ms. Pia Keränen (M.A., M.Sc.) from the University of Lapland. Marabas Ltd. will provide test equipment for the study conducted in real life environments such as public indoor playgrounds and schools.
Doctoral candidate Pia Keränen studies user experience in games played for the purposes of learning. With the help of digital indoor exercise environment Keränen observes how physical activity requiring a user interface and educational content can be brought together as a learning environment.
Pia: “SInce I’m a designer, I feel that the research I’m now conducting should have a connection to practice. Dialogue between researchers and companies, service providers and service users is important and fruitful. Games are considered motivating tools for learning for children and young people. My professional experience comes from the field of ICT, therefore I want take part into this discussion about using digital tools for the purpose of learning. “
“We are pleased to have Pia Keränen involved in our business of social development work that we do in the frame of digital sports”, says Marke Rautiala, the COB of Marabas Ltd. “We aim to be one of the key stakeholders on a market that is developing rapidly and globally. The work that Pia Keränen is doing will create more credible content on digital learning whereas the physical activity will improve the actual learning as we believe.”
